Intuit Turbo Tax Premier Is A Waste Of Money

Intuit Turbo Tax Premier Is A Waste Of Money
Updated by user Mar 19, 2016

Intuit has done absolutely nothing to resolve this issue. I had to file my federal and state income taxes by USPS.

I am over 65 and simply do not have the energy to combat with Intuit. In my opinion Intuit is deceptive and provides extremely incompetent customer...

Original review Feb 18, 2016
I purchased Intuit Turbo Tax Premier disco edition and loaded it on my Apple Mac with the latest operating system. The Turbo Tax is not through and for the state filing not up to date.

I experienced electronic filing problems in that my return was rejected 5 times after making corrections. The IRS sent me a six digit IP PIN and Turbo Tax is set up to accept only five digit filing PINS. I obtained the correct five digit filing PIN and was still unable to file my taxes, they were rejected. Upon contacting Turbo Tax I was given a number and advised that they would get back to me within 20 minutes.

Needless to say this never occurred. When I did contact Turbo Tax regarding the state tax filing the representative was courteous, but useless. I did not want to have to, but I resoted to my daughter who is an accountant and she completed everything.

I was forced to file by mail because of Tubro Tax's glitch not enabling me to file electronically. My my opinion Intuit Turbo Tax offers no support system and is useless.

After what TurboTax did last year by suddenly omitting some forms in their Deluxe version and then requiring us to purchase the more expensive Premier version in order to do our returns, I went to H&R Block's software and have been very pleased with it. The added benefit is that H&R Block's prep program is some $20 cheaper than TT!! Try it next year and forget about TT--it is over-priced.

Sequential Consulting INDIA

I have been a Quicken user for over 20 years. I recently got conned into paying $249.99 for Quicken 2016 RPM when I called Quicken Support and got Sequential Consulting in India. These technicians only know how to take control of my computer but seem to have little knowledge about the Quicken software so usually a simple question takes over an hour or two while they are running diagnostics and twice now my issues could no be resolved. Trying to contact customer support from Quicken directly is a joke. I've been waiting for 45 minutes and still no answer listening to their *** music. Well at least they aren't trying to sell their product. Beware

Intuit Represents Failure

"Intuit was founded in 1983, committed to integrity, to our customers and to our employees. That commitment remains as strong today as it did then. Living by these Values creates the type of environment we all desire: a workplace where we exceed the expectations of our customers and those of each other, and where we don't just satisfy people, we wow them." B.S. Intuit represents Failure... Lies... Deceit... Overpriced software... Predatory pricing... False advertising... Bait and switch... Cutthroat business practices... Fraud... Hidden fees... Forced upgrades after 2 years... Removing functionality from already purchased products... Removing functionality when forced to upgrade to a newer product... Phone support that takes an unconscionable amount of time, and is usually inadequate and ineffective... General greediness...

Best to use H&R Block or similar---cheaper and just as good. Yes, Intuit seems to be in the business of scamming it's customers.

Turbotax Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Filed my taxes with Turbo tax early. Received a letter from the IRS two months after filing, needing more information. In the meantime, turbo tax double their fees for service and took it directly out of my bank account without warning. Never using them again and I hope others hear about their deceiving ways and do the same!

I am a business person and my time is valuable. I had to place 3 phone calls to finally get the Accountant 2016 disk mailed to me. Arguments regarding ordering a CD One of the representatives wanted to know if I wanted it to be framed and hang on the wall. (No one needs the CD anymore) Now that I received the CD it was in a small white pouch (not a box) Stella from the Philippines Argued that the Serial number was on the box and I needed it to download this and needed the serial number and license number Finally after being transferred to ssomeone was able to help me. 35 minutes had passed. Thank you Quickbooks Peachtree looks more attractive right now. will I upgrade next year ? Not sure

Hidden Fees - Steal Money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They overcharged me and will not refund my money. First they told me the IRS overcharged me and I needed to call the IRS. Then she stuttered for awhile told me that it was a fee for Turbo Tax and I was told I would be charged extra for having the Turbo Tax fee withdrawn from my deposit. I was never told that, though. The woman was rude and unhelpful and I will never use Turbo Tax again. Next year I will definitely switch to HR because Turbo Tax would not make this right. They're crooks and liars.

Account was hacked

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On Friday September, 25th I noticed a strange $19,000 pending charge, but thought it was a glitch.

On Tuesday September, 29th a woman called asking why we charged $19,883 to her account, I told her we did not and looked into it on our QB merchant account only to find $39,882 in fraudulent charges.

I immediately contacted Visa and was told there was nothing they could do and I should contact QB.

I contacted QB about 10a.m on Tuesday and allowed QB to take over my computer. The QB rep found errors in our QB profile and recommended the $741.99 service to repair the issues. We had the service performed, and during the service I repeatedly indicated to the QB rep that there were several fraudulent charges which we did not apply. The $39,882 in fraudulent charges were my main concern and I was assured that the service performed would resolve these issues. By the end of the business day the repairs were completed and I was again assured that it was resolved.

Wednesday September, 30th we noticed that $9,375 worth of legitimate credit card transactions were not showing up in our account (it had been several days since they were processed so they should’ve showed), and another $1,280 that was processed but likely wouldn’t show as it was too soon. Again I immediately contacted QB, provided my customer # and the case continued. QB once again took over my computer and we discovered another $39,964 worth of fraudulent transactions. QB continued working on my computer and we discovered that the routing to our merchant services bank acct had been changed to an unknown account ending in 6513. We also discovered that someone had enabled mobile payments which is something we do not do. I was told by QB not to make any changes and QB reps continued working on my computer until the end of the business at which point they told me to expect a call the next business day.

Thursday October, 1st I received a call from Carl with PNC bank asking if our customer had received their merchandise and/or service for the $19,988 fraudulent charge. I told Carl what was going on and found out that they had paid out that amount. I immediately filed my report with the FBI (IC3). I called QB as I was anxious to get results and while I was on hold I discovered that I could cancel, void, and/or reverse transactions which I did for the charges of $19,976 and $19,988. QB continued working on my computer until about 1p.m. at which point they put me in contact with QB risk department. Toward the end of the business day QB risk rep took all of my info and said I should expect a call from a different risk rep within 1-3 business days.

Monday October, 5th I opened the merchant service account to make sure no further fraudulent charges were applied only to find another $39,988.22 worth of fraudulent charges. I immediately disregarded QB’s request to not make changes and disabled the mobile payments. After another full day trying to communicate with QB risk department the merchant account was finally closed, only to find out that not only did we lose the $10,655 in legitimate intercepted transactions we are also liable for any chargebacks which at this point are $83,496. Our total potential loss to date could be $130,489.22.

I will admit complacency for not looking into the first transaction on Friday the 25th, however I did everything in my power to put a stop to these fraudulent charges Tuesday the 29th. I was assured by QB reps that it would be resolved, so I continued to operate as I normally would. Even to go as far as to continue processing credit cards through my merchant service for legitimate transactions as late as the end of the business day on 9/29 after QB supposedly fixed the problem.

Our last legitimate transaction which we received was a Visa processed on 9/16 for $670. Our company has likely never processed a credit card for more than $7,000 and all of a sudden we are processing amounts of $19,000 over 5 days. In the entire month of September we performed $80,495 in services yet we exceeded that amount of charges in just 5 days.

How did QB not recognize this? QB charged me $741.99 to “fix it” on Tuesday the 29th. Why wasn’t it fixed? What did I pay for? Why didn’t QB freeze the merchant account sooner?

QB states that our limit is $35,000 a month and that our ability to process payments will not be interrupted unless suspicious activity is detected. These transactions are obviously suspicious, so again how did QB allow the charges to take place?

Reposting my post from QuickBooks Community site: My nightmare started Thursday 7/22/21, however I didn't see it because of a long weekend, until Tuesday 7/27/21 and I called immediately and both QBO and Intuit Merchant Services were ignorant in their capabilities and I had to scramble to figure out what I needed to do to stop the situation!!! Same thing happened to me and I am still trying to figure out if it is finally over because I am having to think way to far about how QBO and Intuit Merchant Services work.

The customer should not have to know how to do the job of the companies agents... but the past week has been *** for me as I have been passed around via chat and voice ... and can someone tell me why an account takeover would ever be ok to discuss via chat??? Mine started on Thursday 7/22 with the first sales receipts being processed.

The first deposit into their account was on Friday, along with my own payments. Then it continued each day... of which I was closed Saturday through Monday... so I didn't even get to notice anything until Tuesday when I was closing and I saw I had $9000 in my undeposited funds account.

I had just done invoicing, so I thought I had done something wrong and went to figure it out and bammmmmm I saw sales receipts for my products at huge amounts from $1200 to $4500... I was trying to wrap my head around what was happening. I then went to my intuit payments account and saw the transactions were pending and some were funded for past days. So I started looking for contact information for Quickbooks.

Through the evening I chatted with and spoke with different agents and was passed around from intuit and qbo so many times I was overwhelmed... the BIG moment I can remember the first night was that the Intuit agent made a comment "well that is weird, who would *** into your QBO and create sales receipts and charge cards to deposit into your bank????" That is when I literally was beyond understanding how these people can't get the reality of this ... so I responded "how do you know it is going into my bank account?" and he said "well lets go look at that" and he showed me how to do that and low and behold... the hackers had changed the bank account and routing number and when I said "That is not my account" he replied, " seriously, are you sure" ...

that lead to a realization on his part that he needed to get me to someone in the risk unit, but I was not to change anything. His "getting me to the risk unit, was that he emailed me a link to a chat" Well, while I was trying to figure out how to get someone the phone... I through up my hands and said "screw this, I am going to change the account back to mine. I went through the process to do that and when I hit the send code to my landline, the phone would ring and when I picked it up...

there was a dial tone. It took me 30 minutes to realize, they had forwarded my phone to them and they were getting the code. So, I unforwarded my phone and voila, I was able to change the bank account. I think at that point...

I went home and thought we were done, because I had changed all my passwords to all my banks and intuit and my QBO (but it was my QBO Accountant) because that is how I always go in because I have a few businesses. I did not realize until the next day that they were back at it and they had changed everything again. That is when I became more forceful. I finally got ahold of someone that cancelled the intuit payment account and transferred me to QBO and I spoke with a nice guy that sent me to a link that would reset my account because by then I realized they were in my QBO and I was in my QBO Account and they had changed the second verification to their phone and I couldn't get in to change the password.

He promised me it would work, but the next day they had opened another payment account and were at it again. By now I saw that I was being charged intuit fees and had done research that these companies had this happen to others and the others... were being held responsible for the companies fees and returns. I was panicking I called again and finally got with the intuit to shut down the 2nd account and transfer me to QBO again and I got a nice lady that got me into my account, we changed everything and thought everything was going to be done and I realized too late that even though I changed everything, they were still in there and so I made the decision to create a new user and made the new user the primary admin and put the old user in reports only.

That seems to have worked, but when creating the new user, the QB app didn't process and said it wasn't working right and try again later... so I never got the new user set up... but when I go into my QBO accountant... I can see the new user is the primary and the old user only can do reports...

so now I need to call them and have them help me delete the old one all together and keep the new one, but need access. This is beyond ridiculous and someone in a federal regulatory agency needs to put these 2 companies on notice that this is unacceptable... these are our lives and we have to trust the programs we use an expect the owners/agents of these programs KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! Sorry, but I felt the whole story needed to be said for all of you that I am sure ....

this is happening to!!! update posted 8/5/21 afternoon Update: 8/5/21 My bank account has been charged for return items fees and nsf fees by Intuit Merchant Services and they are now trying to collect $20,000 from me for disputed payments and say it is my responsibility to pay for the fraud. I have called the FTC 877-382-**** and reported the consumer fraud claim against both QuickBooks and Intuit and they said to refer everyone to call them and make their own claims so they can help us from this abuse. I am very disappointed in both Quickbooks and Intuit and hope they are shut down!!!

Please contact the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-**** and file your complaint and if any of you have been through this and can help all of us that this is happening to now...

please let us know who to contact and how ... this is criminal!!!

forgot to add this update: 8/5/21 afternoon I got a phone call from Intuit saying they have tried to charge all the charge backs and it appears to be $20k and I will want to call them. So I called them and they threatened to send me to collections and that I need to pay them.

I am reaching out to the FTC and the Attorney General, all news stations and anyone else that will listen. This is happening to many small businesses and Intuit is victimizing us and I can't even begin to understand what they are thinking. This is fraud, they are responsible for the program.

They did not protect me, their customer, and now they want me to be responsible for their mistakes. HORRIBLE and the trauma they have caused me over the past 10 days is beyond toxic.

TurboTax started their scams in full force last year when they omitted some common schedules from their Deluxe version and then wanted extra fees in order to use those schedules. I went to H&R Block for much less money and have no problems. Best to stay away from TT.

I am the QUEEN of complaints. However, call Turbo tax again.

Get a rep on the phone and tell them you would like a refund. Tell a joke. TRUST me. They will refund either your Turbo tax fee or your Audit defense fee.

I have been using them for 3 years now. I even have a number that I don't have to wait for 30 minutes to get straight to a rep.

More bees with honey.......try it.

I am a person with the worst luck on the planet. If these people refund ME it will work for you!

Good luck.

Turbo Tax Rip Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Have been using TT for 20+ years. Had a large refund this year, arranged for the auto deposit.

After the standard 3 weeks, TT sends me a note saying I will see funds deposited in a day or so. After a week and no deposit, I contact the IRS. IRS indicates they deposited a week previously. Call TT using the 800 number on the notification, and after going to two additional 800 numbers (the first two were wrong) an operator tells me they 'held onto the funds for my security' and takes me to a secret website to release the funds.

After jumping trough a number of hoops to provide yet additional id verification, they tell me it will be an additional 7 business days until I see my refund! NOTE-SINCE TT WAS ACQUIRED BY THE PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY WHO NOW OWNS IT, THEY HAVE CONTINUALLY RAISED FEES AND CREATED NEW WAYS TO KEEP YOU FROM YOUR REFUND!

i WILL NOT USE TT AGAIN AND STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST THEM. THIS CAN ALSO HAPPEN TO YOU!

Never Again

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had a terrible experience with Turbo Tax. I was forced to paper file an was not informed this until they had already processed my account for their fees. No where on their forms does it say that you need to sign any of the pages. I mailed all my returns and they were all sent back to me for not having a signature. The IRS then lost my turn. I reached out to Turbo Tax for help, after all I did pay for them to help me with my taxes. I was told they could do nothing for me and had no recommendation for possible solutions. I was promptly hung up on when the representative could not explain what I paid for if not for Turbo Tax to help me through these situations. I will never use Turbo Tax again, and I advise that you never go through the hassle.

Over charging

Turbo Tax shows to charge one price on their internet site. Choose the product you want and do your taxes. When turbo tax sends the bill it is a lot more than what they said it would be. Sometimes more than double. Turbo tax is a rip off and they lie. Then when you try to contact them about the over/changed charge, getting through to a person is almost impossible. Their customer service people will argue and only help if you cancel the charge with your credit card company.

Intuit - turbo Tax charges

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Be careful when paying Intuit for the Turbo Tax service. When you are ready to file notice that the MAX Assist & Defend option is the default setting and if you miss that and then click the next button to pay you will be charged an additional fee of $59.99. My total was $184.05 for the Home and Business plus the state version. In five seconds, I realized I made a mistake but to no avail, Intuit had my money and appeals did not work and were a waste of time. This is the Intuit policy “Once you've confirmed and paid for the service, we are unable to offer a refund”. The payment step is one of two places in the entire software package that cannot be corrected. For most people MAX Assist & Defend is not needed and a waste of money. Intuit got an extra $60 from me but in the process but lost my trust and my willingness to recommend their service. I have used the Turbo Tax service since 1994 when Intuit acquired Parsons Technology for $64 million.

I used TT for years until last year when they deleted some schedules like Sch. E and then wanted extra money in order for me to get that form.

I switched to H&R Block and not only was it just fine and as good as TT but it was some $20 cheaper and imported all my prior year's info to H&R, etc. I use the Deluxe version and it has everything I need. TurboTax is really not worth the extra money.

Try H&R next year. Amazon.com has it just as cheap as any local store for you to remember next year when tax time comes around.

Misrepresentation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have used quickbooks for over ten years. I switched to quickbooks online over a year ago. It's slow and hard to use but I was going for it. I got the merchant payment services and they said I would pay abrupt 2.5 percent. I recently sent out an invoice and the nuclei paid by credit car and they took 3.45%. When I tried to call to ask why I had to search fro a contact number, no phone number on their e-mail if you want to purchase something the contact phone is on the front web page but if you have a question you have to read and click through at least four web pages. The sweet, clueless girl I spoke to at quickbooks said I should have known the rates were a whole point higher when the client paid directly when keying in their credit card because the information was on the website. So, no acceptance of responsibility for misrepresenting what the merchant services charges would be, just "You should have read through the endless pages of information on the website to insure we didn't LIE to YOU or OMIT information to get you to use our services. I'm going to Office Depot now to see if I can find a billing software that won't rip me off.
